This paper is is based primarily on Israeli data and on interviews with various employers and with policymakers who focus on employment in West Jerusalem. The paper examines the labor market for East Jerusalem Palestinians in the Israeli arena and in the immediate context of the urban space shared by the two parts of the city. Its aim is to provide a factual, statistical foundation to describe the labor market for East Jerusalem residents in its entirety, with attention to spatial distribution and to the characteristics of employed persons, including characterization of their work in East and West Jerusalem.
