The explosive tension in East Jerusalem in the summer of 2014, sensed in the aftermath of the Gaza war, has led to an increase in violence of nearly 100% in the city. These events have once again raised the issue of the complex, explosive reality that exists in East Jerusalem and the tense relationship between the city’s Jews and Arabs.
This paper aims to explore the context and foundation that generate tension, as well as the main factors that enflame it, and to propose ways of de-escalating the tension in both the immediate future and the medium to long term.
